A small,private, residential, coeducational undergraduate college, with a small diverse student body, affiliated with the Evangelican Lutheran Church of America, Newberry College is dedicated to the intellectual, spiritual and personal development of its students in a caring and supportive academic environment. Through academic freedom, intellectual dialog, and diversity of viewpoint we hope to graduate students as informed, articulate and responsible human beings with the capacity for service, and continued personal and intellectual growth. To achieve our goals we combine a liberal arts curriculum with in-depth study in a wide variety of disciplines, professional and pre-professional fields.
With 24 majors, 31 minors, 1084 students, and a 14:1 student-teacher ratio, Newberry College ensures that students receive individual attention and guidance as part of its values-based curriculum.
Offering more than 50 organizations for students, Newberry College provides many opportunities for excellence outside the classroom. Over fifty percent of our students participate in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The athletics program includes fifteen NCAA competitive teams for men and women.
A Lutheran College that is supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Newberry College is dedicated to giving students a quality education in a Christian environment while leading students to prepare for meaningful life experiences, occupations, and service to the world and to the church.
Students-to-faculty ratio is 14:1. More than 75 percent of full-time faculty members hold the highest degrees available in their fields. All put teaching and students first.
Newberry College's 90-acre campus is located in Newberry, South Carolina, the safest city in the state. With its antebellum mansions and tree-lined streets, Newberry South Carolina is both quaint and modern. The local area, with its moderate climate, provides many different year-round recreational opportunities including golfing, boating and hiking. Both the beach and the mountains are an easy drive from Newberry and South Carolina's state capital, Columbia, is only thirty minutes from our campus.
